There are cheap vacation Hawaii options that are affordable and still family-friendly. Keep reading to learn where to find them. For the family on a limited budget to Maui, try making reservations at one of the numerous budget-priced condominiums and resorts along Maui's Kihei and Maalaea coasts. Kihei and Maalaea Coasts Kihei is a small town of shops and restaurants adjacent to the upscale Wailea Resort, about 20 to 30 minutes from the Kahului Airport. Maalaea is located at the southern end of the same stretch of coast, adjacent to the new Maui Ocean Center and small boat harbor. It is about a 20-minute drive from the airport. Budget-priced properties can be found for less than $100 per night, although at the bottom end, guest services may be more limited. Nonetheless, these properties do provide a decent accommodations option for economy-minded visitors. Essentially, it’s a cheap vacation, Hawaii style without a lot of fuss. Property Types in Kihei and Maalaea Properties generally come in two categories. Some are across the road from the ocean, within easy walking distance of Kihei establishments, while others are oceanfront properties, located closer to Maalaea.
