Picnik
Picnik is an online-based photo editor, meaning you have to upload your photos before you can edit them. However, this powerful online editor is actually surprisingly complex.
It lets you do a lot more than resize or crop a photo. You can apply special effects, add type, manually fix levels and more. It can also sync into your Flickr, Facebook, Photobucket, Myspace or Picasa website and edit your photos directly from those sites.
The Picnik basic version is free to use. However, for an upgraded version, members must pay $24.95 per year. Unless you love the convenience of mobile photo access and editing, it may not be worth it. You can find the site at http://www.picnik.com/.
Serif PhotoPlus
Serif PhotoPlus used to be only available as a demo. However, now the developer is giving away thousands of free photo editing programs. PhotoPlus 6 is completely free and lets users import and export from numerous sources, slice images, create image maps, add plug-ins and so much more.
